ABOUT ME

I am originally from southwestern Ontario and moved to the Toronto area about 22 years ago to begin my career in healthcare.  I started my career journey as a medical radiation technologist at William Osler Health System.  Medical radiation technologist are members of the allied health team and as such, they belong to a regulated college, the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO).  We must comply with the acts set forth by the government; Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act, 1990 and the Medical Radiation Technology Act, 1991. My professional obligations included working in a collaborative practice, on-going continuing education and patient-family centred care.  These values are set forth by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

I transitioned into mammography and MRI where I worked with the incoming MRI students as well as supporting the MRI department lead.  My path then led me to my role as a Health Links resource coordinator, a very collaborative position that worked with many community health care partners.

After 19 years, I left Osler to join the dynamic team at Mackenzie Health to work as a Patient Care Coordinator.  I enjoyed the role, leading others and supporting new initiatives which involved a new EMR implementation and a net new hospital build, the creation of the Vaughan hospital.

I moved to Trillium Health Partners to take on the role of Clinical Manager Diagnostic Imaging.  At Trillium I was also involved with a new PACS, EMR and new patient tower.  I acted as advocate for the diagnostic team as well as the liaison with other hospital professionals for issues that relate to medical imaging.

Currently I am the Director of Paramedical Services at Stevenson Memorial Hospital where I oversee the laboratory, pharmacy and diagnostic imaging.  The biggest challenge has been adjusting to the challenges a small medium sized hospital faces.  We will be embarking on a large addition in order to meet our regions growing hospital needs.  Leading during the pandemic has certainly be challenging. This is still a new role for me, and I look forward to lots of growth!
